Welcome to WordSalad, where I hope to put more avocado, feta cheese and olives in the bowl than cheap iceberg lettuce (though I think we all appreciate a wild Romaine heart... give me a hot-blooded Gypsy anyday). Organic Balsamic vinegar may get thrown about with reckless abandon; forgive me if I get some in your eye, or if any of my ingredients are not to your taste.

nice man…great pic and love teh way you formatted it as well…word art and art…its all art…what can i say…smiles….
@brian miller Hope you caught the politics/religion drift…. cheers Brian mate
Agree with Brian–very clever by itself, augmented by formatting, mutually exclusive and self-propped. k.
@Manicddaily Thanks, glad you enjoyed the piece
Great pic…Cool!!!!!!!!!!!
“agit-prop berated” … Are you kidding me? Where do you come up with this stuff?! He’s shaken up and set on a shelf, leaning over because he can’t support his own weight. His legs are weak, his core is weak. This guy is not holding up well. And neither is she. They’ve both been knocked down a peg or two by outside attacks, other people’s beliefs pushed on them; they’re beaten up and worn down … but they cling to each other in some way, building each other back up.
Love the rise of the leftward text, the feel of resurrection/redemption/renewal. The split-line “-ed” breaks are very effective.
So who’s the speaker? And why is his nondisclosure “cold”? He should tell someone about the relationship. But he doesn’t care. … The ruse has censure. So someone else is already calling them out, so it’s not the speaker’s problem. … Are they exposing themselves? Telling the “church” they don’t care, they’re going to do what they want, they’re done being bullied. Thus the right-side shift-levelling; their view has changed, their approach has changed.
I love “pushingploughing” as one word, the force, the weight, the duality. They’re working together to fight the opposition.
Love the subtle change from “want” to “need” when it comes to their relationship with God. But they’re only going to get that time with God if people stop telling them how to do it, that life is only about rules and conforming to someone else’s standards/beliefs.
The title is perfect in driving home the message: this relationship, these lives, these hearts/souls are not about you, not ruled by you, not to be judged/controlled by you.
Am I hitting the mark?
Hmm…this one reminds of a couple of things: The Nine Inch Nails song, “Closer” (as in closer to God – and the sexuality of this piece) and also of Jehovah’s witnesses. What a strange combination. Both are too good for each other and too good for anyone else, but not for us to judge. I like the way the black text looks on the picture, too. Kind of wish there was a way to make the very first line end on berat and then -ed for the second line, but it doesn’t work that way.
Thanks all.
@Shawna
@Dragon Ka-Tet this is intentionally kept a little ambiguous, even if you look at the tags/categories I’ve posted it in/as. Shawna, you hit the mark in some places. If was any more direct, I’d get serious harassment by the religious bigots, quite likely, or at least lose quite a few friends. It’s about a specific geopolitical/religious predicament that I feel pretty f**king strongly about. Racial and religious hatred, severe oppression, hypocrisy, injustice. Religious fundamentalism at it’s very worst. If you reread it with that mind, I’m sure you’ll see the clues. I’ve actually written on this one twice before; once was, like this, pretty ambiguous (I also like to make it so it could be applicable to any situation having those factors), the other was more direct but did not mention the _place_ or the _people_ either.
Poignant.
Another great picture choice, still one of my favorite poems form wise and smart content, too. Intolerance and close-mindedness bring nothing but trouble.
